Skills and Support That Build Everyday Independence
SAVIPA’s programmes focus on practical rehabilitation, mobility, communication, personal management and daily living skills for blind and partially sighted beneficiaries.
Independent
Travel
Training in safe indoor and outdoor travel, orientation, cane techniques, route planning and the use of public transport.
Daily Living
Skills
Hands-on support with personal care, clothing management, food preparation, home organisation and daily self-sufficiency.
Communication Skills
Braille, labelling, reading, writing and accessible communication skills that support independence and confidence.
Personal Management
Support with budgeting, planning, appointments, address books, communication, work-readiness and personal organisation.
Programme 01
Independent Travel
SAVIPA assists beneficiaries with the skills and techniques needed for safe and independent indoor and outdoor travel. The programme supports orientation, mobility, cane technique, route planning and confidence when moving through homes, communities and public spaces.

Programme 02
Daily Living Skills
The Daily Living Skills programme helps beneficiaries learn practical, hands-on skills for everyday self-sufficiency. Training focuses on personal care, clothing management, food preparation, home organisation and confidence in managing daily routines.

Programme 03
Communication Skills
The Communication Skills programme helps beneficiaries learn to read, write and communicate using Braille and other accessible methods. Training includes Braille reading and writing, labelling techniques, Braille writing tools and practical communication skills that support everyday independence.

Personal Management
The Personal Management programme helps beneficiaries develop organisational, communication and life-management skills that support independent living, further education, training and work-readiness. Beneficiaries learn practical ways to manage personal affairs, appointments, communication, finances and important daily responsibilities.

Guidance, Advocacy and Community Awareness
Beyond practical skills training, SAVIPA also supports beneficiaries through counselling, advocacy, rights awareness, referrals and community education around visual impairment.
